Road Trip to The Pizza Grocery

Dateline: Corinth, Mississippi
On Friday, August 27th we took a road trip down to The Pizza Grocery located in downtown Corinth, Mississippi. We arrived at the restaurant and were promptly seated by the hostess. A waitress brought the menus and took our drink order. Since this was our first visit, she was patient with us as we perused the menu and made our choice. Debra ordered a 12" Margherita pizza topped with Roma tomato, mozzarella, fresh basil, olive oil base. It is named after Queen Margherita, wife of Italy's King Umberto I, this classic has the simple, yet highly flavorful combination of fresh basil and fresh tomatoes Addison ordered the Grilled Chicken Alfredo which was grilled chicken smothered in roasted garlic alfredo, and sauteed spinach with Parmesan. I ordered the Lasagna Calzone that was grilled italian sausage, ricotta, mozzarella, fresh basil, tomato sauce. Both of the Calzones were served with a side of marinara sauce. For any of you that's not familiar with what Calzone is, Wiki defines it as; "A calzone (Italian "stocking" or "trouser"is a turnover that originates from Italy. It is made of ingredients similar to pizza, folded over and shaped like a crescent before being cooked".
All the items were very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal. Afterward, we rode around Corinth and I took a few pictures of some interesting sites. I'll post about them later.
